Irma Bejdic already in the process for obtaining a Bionic arm that is mind-controlled

A bionic arm combines robotics, biotechnology, and electronics to recreate the functions of the human arm. It is attached to the nerves. The mind-controlled arm makes it possible to perform movements in the joints as if they were performed by the natural arm: intuitively and simultaneously.

The high-tech Bionic arm was developed by an Austrian research team together with German company Otto Bock.

In June 2012, Irma underwent seven hours of surgery at the hospital in Austria, in order to prepare her to be fitted with the arm she would be able to control with her brain. In the strictest sense this is a nervous system reconnection, the brain has to reorganize motor functions for the nerves that control her arm and their new placement in the body.

The surgeon who performs the surgery Prof. Oskar Aszmann from the center for Bionic reconstruction in Vienna is working closely with bionics company Otto Bock, in creating one of the most intelligent bionic systems in the world.

The costs of the surgery Irma had in Vienna, in June were covered by the donations that have been collected by now, through AIESEC network.
